Welcome to The Writer's Bump

So, here I am contemplating the Writer's Bump; that anamolous little blob that denotes years of penmanship practice & dedication to writing. The old school, pen/pencil to paper manuever. I still whip out the old notebook for planning, scene organization, character layouts, etc. It helps me recall the stories I grew up with, admired & aspired to.

I guess you could say that little bump denotes a fraternity/sorority of sorts. One to which I still aspire. But every blog, every book, every class brings me one step closer to the beauty, simplicity & love of language that I began to appreciate as a child.

At the end of the day, I am proud of my little writer's nub. There is an even greater sense of accomplishment when it is covered in black, blue or, in my case, purple ink.

The purpose of this blog is to catalogue the writing journey; its twists, turns & unexpected events. As the weeks progress, I will be adding links & other tidbits. I look forward to hearing & sharing your journeys as well.

Happy Reading & Many Thanks,

Patti Struble

  1. My writer's bump is long gone -- even though I still often draft with a pen. What I remember most, was the teacher who took me to task because the bump was in the wrong spot. [Seems I held my pen/pencil wrong.]

  2. Good for you, Patti. I'm glad to see you've joined blogging world. I'll add you to my NCW blogroll.

I never had much of a writer's bump for some reason. Probably didn't have a tight enough grip on my pencil...

  3. Pat,
Thank you so much. Your writer's bump is in there somewhere. I think as writers it is also imprinted on the pulse & soul of who we are.

  4. Kay,
Your comment gave me a giggle. Not wrong, just different as they say. And, I don't think it's gone, just melted into the fabric somewhere.
